What is a Barlow lens and Why do I need one for my telescope?


Barlow lenses are used to magnifcy the images you see in your eyepiece by either 2X (doubling the magnification), or 3X (tripling the magnification). They do this by a series of lenses. This is very useful when observing the planets or features of the Moon such as craters.

Instead of buying more eyepieces, a barlow can double your collection of eyepieces (magnifications) by allowing a double or triple magnified viewed through your telescope!
